Introducing the Doctors
Marvin Heinbach, DDS
Marvin Heinbach provides patients with gentle, high-quality dental care and to avoid extensive dental procedures in the future. If dental work is required, Heinbach provides choices and options in a way that allows the patient to be fully involved in the decision-making process. He believes patients are best motivated by positive reinforcement, and toward that end he has instructed all staff to convey any necessary information in a positive, non-judgmental way.
Marvin Heinbach’s approach to dentistry is directly influenced by his philosophy of life. Heinbach believes we should seek to serve others. He is committed to helping the less fortunate and devotes a portion of his time to providing dentistry for homeless families in the Lawrence area. He also serves on the board of an organization that helps women facing unplanned pregnancies. This is the same dedication to service that Heinbach brings to his practice. In addition, he seeks to help those animals that love us unconditionally and is committed to supporting local animal shelters, pet adoptions and saving animals from being euthanized.
Russell Forrest, DDS
Russell Forrest brings 30 years of experience to Emporia Family Dental Care. His experience has helped him develop a very comfortable and relaxing chairside manner. In his decades of dental practice, Dr. Forrest has also encountered just about every dental situation possible, so his patients always feel that their dental care is in capable hands.
Growing up in Lincoln, Nebraska, Forrest realized he had a talent for working with his hands and that he was good at mechanical things. These abilities, along with an appreciation for aesthetics, led him to attending college and then dental school in Nebraska.
Dr. Forrest enjoys being a dentist, as the position offers him an opportunity to connect with others and to improve lives by brightening smiles. He says that the best thing about working as a dentist is the flexibility, and his passion shows in the wide variety of specialties he offers. His specialties include cavity treatment and prevention, placing crowns and veneers, and performing root canals, dental checkups, tooth extractions, and cleaning.
In his free time, Russell likes to spend time with his wife, three children and four grandchildren. In addition to being a dentist and a family man, Forrest is a car enthusiast and he enjoys running. You may even find him playing the guitar.
Haiping Sun, DDS
Dr. Haiping Sun is a dedicated and compassionate dentist born and raised in Topeka, Kansas. She developed a strong sense of community early on, which greatly influences her approach to dentistry.
Her academic journey began at Washburn Rural High School and she continued her education at Washburn University. Her commitment to excellence led her to the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry, where she pursued her dental education.
Driven by a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others, she chose dentistry as a career path to directly help people, work with her hands, and engage in continuous learning.
Beyond her role as a dentist, Dr. Sun finds joy in spending time with her family and friends. With family members scattered across Topeka, California, and China, she cherishes the opportunity to live close to her parents in Topeka, enabling frequent visits and fostering meaningful connections. In her leisure time, Dr. Sun enjoys exploring new culinary experiences, trying different foods, and discovering new restaurants. She also values starting new hobbies, often sharing these activities with friends.
